Millington is a place of beauty, which is maintained through the efforts of our citizens. It is each citizen's responsibility to maintain their property and to adhere by the rules of the town as set forth in the Town of Millington Code.
Alcohol It is unlawful to consume or possess an open contained of any alcoholic beverage while on public property. Animals All animals are to be licensed by the Humane Society. All dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals ( rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, fish, and caged birds) within the Town limits are to be kept securely on his/her own property or under the control of the owner by means of a leash, cord, chain, or the like. Brush, Grass, and Weeds Each resident is to keep their lawns maintained at a height less than 8 inches. Crossing Guard for Elementary School The Town of Millington considers the safety of our children a priority. For all Elementary School children that walk to school; there is a Crossing Guard, Miss Gloria, located at the intersection of Millington Road and Maryland Route 313 in front of the Elementary School. The crossing times are 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and then again at 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. The time is subject to change to accommodate an early dismissal day or late start day. Curfew All minors under the age of sixteen (16) years old are to abide by the curfew laws of the Town of Millington: Friday between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:30 AM Saturday morning, Saturday between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:30 AM Sunday morning, and Sunday thru Thursday between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:30 AM. Sidewalks and Streets Each resident is responsible to maintain the streets and sidewalks of Millington. All streets and sidewalks should remain clear and free of debris to allow for uninterrupted use by all that travel through and live in Millington. Bicycles and skateboards are prohibited on all sidewalks in Millington. Residents are responsible for any tree overhanging any street or right-of-way within the Town. All branches shall be pruned so that such branches shall not obstruct the light from any street lamp, obstruct the view of any street intersection, and shall allow for an eight (8) foot clearance above the surface of the street or sidewalk. All residents shall remove all dead, diseased, or dangerous trees or broken or decayed limbs which constitute a menace to the safety of the public. Residents are responsible for the sidewalk that abuts their property. During any inclement weather, all sidewalks are to be cleared within twenty-four (24) hours after the storm by the property owner. If a street light is out, please note the nine (9) digit number on the pole and report to the Town Office to be repaired. Trash/RecyclingTrash and recycling is picked up every Thursday unless rescheduled by vendor. Trash is defined as all household trash, commercial trash, and garbage; but excludes lawn cuttings, hedge and garden trimmings, tree limbs, leaves, appliances, separately bundled newspaper and cardboard, and demolition materials. Recycling is a service provided by Kent County Recycling Center. To obtain a recycling container and to establish a pick up site, call the Town Office 410-928-3880 or Kent County Recycling 410-778-2600. Kent County accepts bundled cardboard, newspaper, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. Vehicles All vehicles must be tagged and registered with Maryland Department of Vehicles. Maryland registration and tags are required within 60 days of residency. The presence of any vehicle untagged will be deemed abandoned and declared a public nuisance.
